UCI Medical Center's H.H. Chao Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center (CDDC) provides the highest quality care to patients with digestive diseases such as disorders of the esophagus, stomach, colon, liver and pancreas. Patients receive expert and compassionate care from an integrated team of more than 18 specialists, including internists, gastroenterologists, medical oncologists, laparoscopists, surgeons, psychologists, nurses, social workers and case managers.

Our world-renowned physicans and staff are committed to the highest level of service, working in collaboration with a network of referring community physicians to promote the wellness of all patients. In addition, patients can see one or more of our specialists for consultation in our new integrated CDDC Multispecialty Suite, all in the same visit.

The CDDC offers a state-of-the-art, technologically advanced and superbly equipped 8,000-square- foot endoscopy unit that features video endoscopy, capsule endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, ERCP/fluroscopy and laser/PDT as powerful tools for the diagnosis and therapy of gastrointestinal diseases. Cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment is a particular strength of the program.

CDDC surgeons provide all aspects of gastrointestinal surgery, including liver transplantation, bile duct reconstruction and laparoscopic bariatric surgery for obesity. Advanced laparoscopic procedures are also included in the treatment of biliary tract disease, gastroesophageal reflux, inguinal hernias and disease of the spleen, colon and appendix.

CDDC liver specialists offer the newest breakthrough treatments for patients with hepatitis and other liver diseases. The transplant team includes dedicated liver transplant surgeons, hepatologists, nutritionists, clinical coordinators and social workers.
